February Check In

My February goal of keeping a food journal has been going very well so far! I think I have missed only one day. The weekends are the hardest,  which in sure it is for most keeping a food journal.  I've thrown some pictures of my journal that one of my staff members volunteered to make for's awesome!

In other news I started at FitElite, the CrossFit box here! I'm just going though the essentials right now,  but I'm very excited for something new and challenging. ..and hopefully I'll meet some new people along the way! More on this later!

A new month a new goal

Had a fun weekend of playing with my niece and nephew!

January is over and I successfully accomplished my goal for the month! I kept an accurate, up to date fitness journal! Having this journal made me really see how much I have been neglecting running in these cold months. In fact this morning I had great intentions to go running, I even made it out the door, but the 5 degree weather and a wind chill of -15 degrees made that decision the joke of the day. I made it 20 minutes out there and couldn't feel a thing when I got inside.

On to my February goal...keep a daily food journal! People who know me have asked why I am doing this, I don't necessarily need to lose weight, but it is really more in preparation for marathon season this summer. After my first marathon this past October I realized I took my diet and nutrition a little too lightly. I need to fuel it properly if I expect it to run 26.2 in a respectable manner! One of my staff members offered to put a notebook together for me, so I supplied her with a fun cover and colorful paper, it should be done tomorrow! It is nothing fancy, but it will be a fun colored book, which will make journaling more fun right? I'll be sure to post a picture when I get the final product.

PS this is my first post from my phone so not sure how these pictures will show up in the post. We are still on the hunt for a computer, we had an HP with the newest Windows, but it was way to complicated to use, so we returned it. Any suggestions?

Lucky Number 13

As a Health & Fitness Coordinator goal setting is something I truly believe in!  For me goals are usually health and fitness related, but the great thing about goals is that they can be set for any aspect of your, emotional, physical, etc.
This year I decided to do my goals a little differently.  I have four large goals and then smaller monthly goals that will help me reach my bigger goals.  Here are the big four...

I will be coming up with a new goal at the end of each month for the upcoming month, so I can adjust things and tailor them to what I feel I need to work on.  Here's my January goal!

So far I have been successful with this, now just to keep it going until the end of the then it should be an engrained habit, right?
Good luck striving towards your goals!

Happy Thanksgiving

It's been a while since I have posted on here, and it has been even longer since there has been any sort of consistency in my posting.  But I thought what better time to post than to share some things that have happened to me over the past few months that I am thankful for!

I am thankful for my family and friends (pretty much a given)

I am thankful for having had the ability to finish my first marathon

I am thankful for my cousin asking me to be in her wedding

I am thankful for being blessed with another year of life

And last, but not least I am thankful for my job!

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all!

August Foodie Penpal Reveal

It's time for me to reveal yet another great FPP box!

The loot!

Cranberry couscous
I haven't made this yet, but I'm really excited to!

Dried bananas
My family and I used to always make our own banana chips, so I'll be interested to try these out...currently they are sitting in my office, makes for a great work snack!

Oatmeal square
Delish! I only wish I would have warmed it up.

Fiber bar
Pretty good, it definitely tasted like a natural bar.

Chocolate-strawberry granola
I have no idea why haven't opened this yet! It's my mission to do so tomorrow.

Queen City coffee
I cannot tell you how great this was!  Yes was, I have down all four bags of coffee grounds already!  It did not disappoint Ellen :)

Haven't found a chance to relax and pop some popcorn up recently

Thank you so much Ellen!  I have really enjoyed my box so far, and can't wait to finish it up!

This month was a weird one for me, my Foodie Pen Pal and my match did not have crazy that happened.

If you're interested in becoming a part of the Foodie Pen Pal program, head over to Lindsay's blog and check out all the details!

Purchase #3

I apologize for the terrible pictures, we went to this wedding...

And what do you know J broke camera #2 of the year (I broke it once too, yes that is three breaks in one year)! It technically still works,  but the display screen is shattered so you can't aim or review pictures, hence why most of my pictures have a lot of excess background in them.  We are hoping this is covered under warranty.  J is no longer allowed to touch the camera.

In other news, my new job is going well!  I am finally starting to feel like I have a handle on things a little bit.  Give it another week and I think I'll feel very comfortable, plus my first event will be done with!
